Jim Acho Guest On WJR to Discuss House v NCAA Landmark Lawsuit Settlement
CMDA partner Jim Acho is in his 25th year appearing on “The Great Voice of The Great Lakes,” superstation WJR (760 AM) as a legal analyst on sports law issues. Beginning Thanksgiving week in 2000, when the late Frank Beckmann first had Jim on, Mr. Acho has gone on to appear more than 50 times on a variety of WJR shows to discuss sports law issues of the day. Today was no different, as WJR asked Jim to come on to discuss the landmark settlement in the NIL class action, House v. NCAA, which now changes college sports forever. Joining Jim was Andrew Donovan, President of Altius Sports, which handles NIL for UM, Ohio State, Oregon, and the entire SEC. The interview is very brief/truncated due to time constraints, but a longer podcast version will follow at the end of the week; if you are interested, circle back and we will update this post with the longer podcast.
You can listen to today’s WJR interview here:
Jim will appear on multiple shows this week, as CMDA is considered a leader in this space, after Mr. Acho and CMDA colleagues Ethan Vinson and Kevin Campbell filed the first football-specific NIL class action against the NCAA on behalf of former UM football players a year ago. More on that in this recent Sports Illustrated article.
Also, please make sure to listen to longtime CMDA client and friend, Detroit Lions legend Lomas Brown every weekday on WJR from 6-7 pm.
