We pointed out in a recent post that CMDA partner Jim Acho, a nationally respected sports attorney, appeared in Detroit to speak to clients for Lions Alumni Weekend. It was pointed out to Mr. Acho that this fall, Jim celebrates 25 years as legal counsel to the Detroit Chapters of the NFL Alumni and NFL Players Association. Jim was initially retained back in the fall 2000 by then-chapter presidents, ex-Lions Tom Nowatzke and Ron Rice. Today, Jim still enjoys a strong relationship with current chapter presidents, ex-Lions Pete Chryplewicz and Tim Walton. Says Mr. Acho, “Pete and Tim are great guys who do a lot for others. Pete is more focused on assisting ex-players in his role, where Tim is more civic-focused and has former players in the community volunteering. Both do great work, and I am proud of our association with them.”
Mr. Acho and CMDA collected more than $12 million for retired NFL players in the concussion class action, and our Firm handles contracts, estate planning and many other matters for retirees. Mr. Acho has served as personal legal counsel to no less than 12 Pro Football Hall of Famers. Our Firm looks forward to many more years representing and achieving great results on matters across the board for ex-players.
