John A. “Jay” Gillen III is an attorney in our Kansas City office where he focuses his practice on insurance defense, municipal law, and commercial litigation. He has assisted with trials on asbestos, nuisance, and products liability. Additionally, he writes briefs for submission to all levels of state and federal courts and performs legal research for all areas of law handled by the Firm. He is admitted to practice law in Missouri, Kansas, and Indiana. 

Mr. Gillen’s philosophy is simple. He strives to provide the same level of commitment, empathy, and respect to his clients as he would his family. Mr. Gillen provides constant accessibility and straight-forward counsel in order for Firm clients to make the best and most informed decisions.

During his time as a law student at Indiana University’s Maurer School of Law, he received hands-on legal experience at the school’s community legal clinic where he worked with clients on numerous pro bono matters with an emphasis on social security and disability cases. He graduated in the top 20% of the 2021 law class and was an editor for the Indiana Journal of Global Legal Studies. Prior to law school, he attended Emory University where he was a member of the Phi Alpha Theta History Honors Society and Phi Eta Sigma Freshman Honors Society.
