Overview
Sergio Hernandez is an associate in CMDA Law’s Riverside, California office, where he represents clients in litigation and public entity defense matters. His practice includes matters involving public entities, civil rights claims, employment law, personal injury, and sexual abuse litigation.
Originally from Los Angeles, California, Mr. Hernandez earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Riverside in 2015. He later attended Loyola University Chicago School of Law, earning his J.D. in 2020.
Before joining CMDA Law, Mr. Hernandez developed extensive courtroom and litigation experience representing clients in housing-related matters, including unlawful detainer actions. During his time with Inland Counties Legal Services, he represented tenants in more than 30 bench trials and later served as Lead Attorney in the housing department, where he continued handling litigation while also training and mentoring new attorneys.
Mr. Hernandez also served as Chief Compliance Officer for a nonprofit social service organization in Orange County, where he gained valuable experience in organizational compliance, risk management, and nonprofit operations.
In 2025, Mr. Hernandez returned to litigation with a focus on public entity defense. He has represented public entities in a range of matters involving civil rights, employment disputes, personal injury, and sexual abuse claims. His background provides him with a practical understanding of courtroom advocacy, client service, compliance, and the defense of complex claims involving public agencies.
