Suzanne P. Bartos is a partner in our Livonia office where she focuses her practice on employment and labor law, insurance defense, municipal law, education law, and litigation.
Ms. Bartos specializes in employment and labor law, providing contract negotiations and interpretation services to governmental entities. She has a wealth of experience negotiating grievance arbitrations, contract negotiations, and other labor related issues. When trial is necessary, she does not back down. Ms. Bartos has worked with a variety of administrative agencies and tribunals including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Michigan Department of Civil Rights (MDCR), Michigan Employment Security Commission (MESC), Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs – Wage & Hour Division (LARA), National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
Ms. Bartos routinely provides assistance in employment relations matters, including defending claims in state and federal courts involving civil rights, wrongful discharge, discrimination, the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), and the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA). She has counseled numerous clients in developing and administering employment manuals and policies.
Further, she has also achieved outstanding results for clients in premise liability, breach of contract, collections, warranty disputes, and consumer protection. Ms. Bartos is a trusted legal advisor to educational institutions, including public academies, K-12 school districts and community colleges, on a variety of educational law and governance issues.
She is a member of the State Bar of Michigan (Labor & Employment Law Section, and Masters Lawyers Section), Michigan Council of School Attorneys, and Michigan Association of Public School Academies and Chair of the Attorney Discipline Board Tri County Hearing Panel #4.
